including some pictures and recipes. A herb is a plant grown for culinary
or medicinal value. The green, leafy part of the plant is typically used.
General usage differs between culinary herbs and medicinal herbs.
Aloe
vera

Anise
(Pimpinella anisum)
Anis has a reputation as a medicine in coughs and pectoral affections.
Basil (Sweet)
(Ocimum basilicum)
Used to flavor vegetable and pasta dishes, salads and poultry. Basil
tea is mentioned to be good for your nerves and stomach.
Chamomile
(Chamomilla recutita syn. Matricaria recutita)
Chamomile tea is good for relaxation and restful sleep and to reduce
inflammation.
Chives
(Allium schoenoprasum)
Chive contains a pungent volatile oil, rich in sulphur, its mostly
used with salads.
Coriander
(Coriandrum sativum)
Coriander is used as stimulant, aromatic and carminative.
Dill
(Anethum graveolens)
Dill is used to flavor sauces and soups it possess stimulant, aromatic,
carminative and stomachic properties.
Fennel

Fennel has aromatic and carminative properties.
Lavender
(Lavandula vera)
Lavender has aromatic, carminative and nervine properties.
Marjoram (Sweet)
(Marorana hortensis)
This herbs goes well with meat potato and tomato dishes, its said to be
good for your stomach.
Melissa
(Melissa officinalis)
Carminative, diaphoretic and febrifuge. Good as tea for feverish patients
in cases of catarrh and influenza. To make the tea, pour boiling water
upon fresh herbs, infuse 10 to 15 minutes.
Oregano
(Wild marjoram) (Origanum vulgare)
Gives good strong flavor to pizza, tomato, cheese, meat and soups, good
for the stomach.
Parsley
(Petroselinum crispum)
Parsley is used allot to acompany many dishes, it contains 3 times the
vitamin C as oranges and twice as much iron as spinach.
Rosemary
(Rosmarinus officinalis)
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) is a woody, perennial herb with
fragrant evergreen needle-like leaves that are used in cooking. It is
native to the Mediterranean region.

Sage
(Salvia officinalis)
Common sage (Salvia officinalis) is a small evergreen
subshrub, with woody stems, grayish leaves, and blue to purplish flower.
